Dear Elliott'
You are one of the lucky ones at this point in your search. You
know where and when the people you are looking for are buried. You do
two things.
1. Get in touch with Oak Lawn Cemetary in Wilkes-Barre. Explain your
information to them and what you hope to accomplish. In most cases
cemetaries and funeral homes are very helpful. Because of the time of
death for the people you are researching, there are death certificates.
The certificate will give you the names and places of origin for the
parents of the deceased.

2. If the cemetary cannot help you, contact the local public library in
Wilkes-Barre. They will be able to tell you how to procure a death
certificate, also, for a nominal fee, they will usually check for an
obituary, which can be full of valuable information.

At this point in your search, this is the easy stuff. Learn your
way around the library, they are usually very helpful and if you are
near one that has an archive or genealogy department, they will be very
helpful. Your local library can help you find out where the
Wilkes-Barre public library is and what the phone number is.
I know I didn't answer your question, but I am able to give you
more tips and suggestions if you need them. I've been at this for a
little while, and I remember how tough it was getting started. Don't
hesitate to e-mail again if you run into another problem, but it tends
to get tougher, the further back you go.

Good luck,

Mary Wilson
