Thanks to all that answered my question about an index for the 1900 census. I think I'm beginning to get the hang of it. So, when I go to the library to try again, I should ask for the Soundex for the 1900 census, and then, if I find a record for my family, note the volume, etc. to find the complete record. Gotcha! That should be much easier than combing through the entire city of Johnstown name by name (which is what I tried before, unsuccessfully).

Now let's hope the libraries are open this Labor Day weekend..............!
