Subject: [PACAMBRI] Parrish/Weakland
Date: Thu, 02 Sep 1999 11:07:20 PDT
I had known for some time of my ancestors among early Cambria families such
as O'Hara, Parrish, Friedhoff, Hines, McDermitt,
Troxel, Glass, McKinzie, McManamy, Sanders, and Hemler.
Just recently I came to learn that I also descend from the
Weakland family, in partic., John Weakland [1758-1854], an
almost legendary character in early Cambria. Does anyone have
any information on the ancestors of John Weakland in advance of what is
contained in vol. 2 of Cath. Trails West ??? Or information about
the Weaklands in Maryland, where they located there, with whom they
intermarried etc...
And I periodically post something here inquiring if anyone knows anything
about the parents of Joshua Parrish [1770-1840], one of
my ancestors, hoping that someone out there has something written
down. The Parrishs were good record keepers, and it is surprising
that thus far I have come up with no firm record of anyone previous
to Joshua. I am aware of notes on the Parrishs in 'A Biographical
and Portrait Cyclopedia of Cambria Co.' , but that does not state
any names for Joshua's parents and introduces confusion by stating
[in different places] that his father was born both in England and
in this country.
