Hello McDowells, This is my 2nd posting of this information to the McDowell list. Seeking information on this McDOWELL family. John & Edith's children were born in the vicinity of Robinson (Indiana Co) and Boliver (Westmoreland Co) and a few now live in Cambria County. It is possible that John McDowell's father MAY be named Johnson McDowell. The Blaine Johnson McDowell shown is my uncle. No one I have spoken to knows who in this line first came to America or when. It seems likely that this family has Irish roots but I am unaware of any information earlier than shown and I do not know of any other spelling variations of the surname.
