I haven't submitted any questions to this group, but have been reading for
several years.
The names that G.D. Wilson wrote got my attention.
Much of my family ended up in Southern Indiana, specifically the counties of
Orange, Crawford and Harrison. I have the surnames Knight, Harvey and
Wilson on my mom's side. Haven't proven it yet, but supposedly the
ancestors came from North Carolina through Kentucky to southern Indiana.
There were a lot of Quakers settling into that area. One of my ancestors
was name Rachel Harvey (b 1827, m Robert Knight 1850 Orange Co IN) (Michael
Harvey Rachel's father had m Polly Knight b 1805 TN) In Indiana they were
all Methodist (Methodist Episcopal church).
Can anyone suggest some sources to research on these families? I have read
the book ABEL KNIGHT by Jane K. Beekman. Some of my people are named...in
the back, in related families.
The men's given names repeated in my Knight family are: Absolum, Robert,
and Andrew. Any ideas of where to research are helpful. Were these
families originally Quaker as family memory seems to think?
