I am searching for a possible connection of a Ship Captain Edward Clements
to the Quakers of New York, New Jersey or Pennsylvania. Edward Clements,
Master, sailed in 1668 in the Endeavour from London to New England, in 1675,
sailed in the Society from London to New England, sailed in the Fortune from
London to Virginia, in 1678 sailed in the Recovery from London to New York,
sailed in 1680 in the Welcome from London to New York. These ship names mirror
some of the names of Penn's ships

In 1684 Capt Edward Clements purchased property in East Jersey from the East
Jersey Proprietors. In the deed he is referred to as Capt Edwrd Clements of
New York. He later sold the East Jersey property and purchased land in West
Jersey from Anna Salter, widow.
When Edward Clements died in 1715 his name had changed from Clements to
Clemens. Family members from that time on were found using the name Clemens.

Does the this history ring a bell with any one?

Thank you

Jessie , Calif
