Subject: lookup list of resources

On several occasions individuals have contacted me for help with their
genealogical research. They were given my name and email address from
people on a Quaker site. Unfortunately, in the two most recent cases I
was asked about areas for which I have no resources, have never
researched, and with which I have no personal experience. I suggested
posing the questions to an appropriate list where there would be found folks
that could possible offer assistance, which I thought was reasonable, but
the last person seemed to think I could help, but was choosing NOT to,
for some reason..... when the truth was, I had no help to give!.....the
inference was they wouldn't have been referred to someone who 'couldn't'
help and that I should be glad to do so,..... I was left in the position
of trying to 'explain' my inability to disbelieving ears. So, while I'm
always willing to help, I suggest that rather than sending folks to me,
personally, ( Chester Co, Pa county coordinator), it would be better if
you refer them to the Chester Co, PA lookup list, which has all the books
and CDs I do lookups from....it nothing else it'll give people a realistic
idea of the area with which I might be able to offer some help, and what
areas are beyond my ken.
Thanks.....
