Descendants of James Downey, whose first recorded official appearance was
known to us was at the birth of his son Thomas in 1771 at Litchfield
Connecticut was possibly connected with a Quaker family in Pennsylvania.
I have been told here seems to have been a James Downey who came from
England and settled in that area. I believe the last mentioned James might
possibly have been a father of grandfather or father. He appears to have
been a Baptist by the time he appears on CT. Does anyone have knowledge of
this Quaker James? Thank you.
