Hi!
Our brick wall is William ROBERTS b. 1797 near Norristown, Montgomery County, Pa.
d. 1874 Hardin County, Ky.
married Mary "Polly" GILMORE 1824 in Hardin County, Ky.
I have been told that this part of Pa. was known as the Welsh Tract due to the large number of people from Wales who settled there and for that reason this name is very common. We also believe there might be a family connection with the RITTENHOUSE family. William and Mary gave this name to one of their sons as a middle name. Any information would be greatly appreciated and of course I would be happy to share the information we have now. Thanks in advance.
Sharon in FL.
P.S. William left home at the age of 16 to fight in the War of 1812 and we have been unable to find any mention of his parents or other family members in their family bible, will, etc. Knowing that many of the Welsh in this area were Quakers we thought this might explain his lack of contact with his family back in Pa.
