I do not now have your Prior/Alphous Kirk mentioned in my direct
family history. However, Ancestry. Com, Family Tree, and Rootsweb.com all have
different Kirk trees. As near as I can find Alphonus married Abigail Sharpley
February 23rd in 1692. Her father, Adam a Quaker minister, was presider at the
marriage. Their children were Roger who married Jane Bowen, Elizabeth who
married Daniel Brown, Jonathan married Mary Anderson, Mary who died at one year,
Deborah who died five years old, Abigail who died three years old, Timothy who
died an infant, Alphonsus born October 02, 1705 lived to March 01, 1782, and
who married Mary Nichols May 14, 1730. Adam married Phoebe Mendenhall,
William married Mary Buckingham and after her death Sabilla Williams. Finally
Timothy married Sarah Williams.

I am in direct line from Timothy and Sarah Williams through their son Thomas.

It appears that all Kirks tracing to the 1600s are descended from Alphonous.
I have not seen or read the following books but they may help you. The DAR
is said to have some of them. Historic genealogy of the Kirk Family as
Established by Roger Kirk written by Charles Stubbs and published in Lancaster County
PA by Wybe and Criest in 1872

The Kirk Genealogy of Alphonous Kirk by David B. Kirk published 1990

The Descendants of John and Tabitha Kirk in Arlington TWP Montgomery County
PA written by William H Johnson in 1972

There are some extensive Kirk genealogies on line at Roots and Ancestry. My
dates match with some and not others, but remember there was the old Julian
and Gregory calendar problem in the 1600s.
