I too have noticed the list is quieter than two of the county lists I
am on. I am from the Rodger Kirk who went from Yorkshire to Ireland and whose
son Alphonous Kirk came to the colonies in 1689. There is a lot of published
information on this family. My branch of the family were early settlers into
Clearfield County, PA. They eventually married into most of the other early
settler lines in that place including a lot of people who were not Quakers.
Again there are a lot of people who have this online.
I am willing to share what information I can. My information is from various
secondary sources like George Calvin Kirk's family history, Aldrich's History
of Clearfield County, Clearfield County Marriages Prior to 1885, newspaper
clippings, and grave yards. I have not been able to get home when the Courthouse
was open.
My husband is related to the Howland Family and comes from Arthur Howland and
Elizabeth Prence Howland. According to information on the Internet, Arthur
was the Quaker brother of John Howland of Mayflower fame. We have little
detail on the Howlands until they arrived in Tioga County, PA about 1808. My
husband was born and raised in Tioga County and the family has some newspaper
clipping on Eddy Howland and his offspring. Again this family is detailed on the
Internet.
Maybe this will stir up some comment.
