Subject: [PA-QUAKERS] Quaker to Methodist?
Date: Sat, 07 Apr 2001 12:27:34 -0700

My Carson ancestors emigrated from Ulster in the 1740s, where they were Quaker, to York Co PA. Their
succeeding generations moved to Maryland around 1775, and by 1800 they seemed to all be Methodist.
Was there some defining event in that area at that time that might have caused them to change
religions? How common was it for Quakers in that area to abandon their faith for another? Is there a
book or other source that might deal with this issue? Thanks,

John Ottinger
