Hello old school mates and my family;
I have a Picture of a Lillian Keener/ Kenier/ Kineir other spelling, who lived
on a ranch in Milton- Freewater area of Ore. in abt 1930 and after , maybe before
for some yrs.'s. She is on a horse with me as abt 3 yrs old giving me a ride in a
coral on a ranch.
I am looking for any descendants and would send a copy of the picture I have. My
grandparents also lived in the area in the 1920's name was John Robert and Effie
Cora Barnett. My Mother's name was Letha Sarah Barnett ,Baldwin. My Mother and
some of her siblings, Orville, Martin, Fred, Mae, and Doris, some or all also
have gone to school in Freewater-Milton at the Old Sandstone school as I and my
sister also did. My mother and I and sister also has a Miss Rental and Miss
Vanslyke for teachers. Lloyd Barnett, another Brother also mar. there to a
Ernestine Reeves( Reaves) in 1910 to 1920.
I was in school also at the Tum-a Lum school also, and well remember the "Giant
Strikes" or May Pole as was called both to play on. There was a creek out back
and we went out back in spring and got a big jar with tadpoles in it and took to
school room to watch them till they got into abt. frogs then took back to the
creek.
Some of the names of other's in my rooms were Dolly Madison, Biff Grimes, and
more listed on back of the school picture I have of Miss Vanslyke's class of
abt. 1935/6 abt 70 yrs. ago.
Stewart's Peony Nursery was there then but now by another name.
I have a story about my father and some of his coworker's there ref. to the
Stewarts peonies.
