Karen, thank you so very much. It sounds like that must have been the home I am looking for. The only drawback I see is that the two sisters were there too. One of them was Ten and the other was eight when they were sent there. Their brother lived with an uncle for the next four or five years before he was put into the home. The oldest was Sarah Harriette Riggs (called Hattie). Then there was Jacinto Cornelia (called Jessie ). Their much younger brother, my maternal grandfather Samuel Merritt Riggs was born in November of 1866 three months after his father Samuel Merritt Riggs died of wounds he had received in the civil war. Their mother was Sarah C. Jacinto Penn, b. Oct 6, 1838 in Cedar Bayou, Texas. Thank you again for the help.
