Hello Listers,
Could SKS please tell me what would happen to children orphaned in Derbyshire and Sheffield in the 1920's. I am trying to find out who would have had the responsibility for organizing their care. My Mother-in-law was reared by someone in Sheffield after her parents were killed in a car accident. I have been unable to find any records for her parents marriage or death, even though I have her Derbyshire birth certificate.
Beatrice was born in 1920 in Killamarsh Derbyshire to Samuel Johnson and Edith (nee Trussell). She was reared by John Charles Oldale and his wife in Sheffield.
The marriage of Beatrice states her name as Beatrice Oldale otherwise Johnson.
I would appreciate any help in solving one of my brick walls.
Regards,
Pat (Australia).
