Hi Warren, Perhaps London Ancestor-Genealogy will help. Input that in your
search machine. The largest orphanages in the time period you want would
most likely have been Dr.Barnardo's Homes but as you are looking for
Catholic orphanages maybe the Catholic Church in Britain would help. Many
orphanages in London sent their children out of London ( even overseas)
during WW11 because of the blitz and even in those dates you mentioned there
were still children being sent to Canada and other parts to work on farms
etc. Some of the children have never been able to find their families. There
is a site about Home Children as they were called but I don't have the
address. Your search machine would find it or try Ask Jeeves/uk Helen in
Canada
