I am sending this to 3 Lists, so if you are on the same lists, you will
receive 3 times.

Looking for any information regarding a Miss Wemyss from Washwell House,
Painswick, Gloucester, England. A Miss Wemyss took children for several
years to Marchmont Dist. Home, Belleville, Canada. I have checked the
1881 census which lists Harriet Catherine Wemyss, age 39, living with
her sister Alice Wemyss, age 33, and 2 servants. They are living at
Washwell House, Painswick.

Was Washwell House an orphanage? It is not listed as such in the
census. Does anyone have any information on Miss Wemyss and/or Washwell
House in Painswick?

I am seeking answers due to my grandfather's records state he was "from
Painswick" and was immigrated to Canada in 1888 with a "Miss Hart" to
Marchmont, Belleville, Canada. I have as yet found no mention of an
orphanage or workhouse in Painswick.

Thanks for any help.
