Just a shot in the dark for you Harold, but my grandfather was William John
Peters, born in Worcester, Worcestershire in 1897. I have no details other
than he went into the Middlemore Homes for children in Birmingham sometime
before 1911 when he emigrated to Canada as a Britihs home child. My advice
to you would be to check some orphanages in the area (they say Middlemore
was one of the biggest, and then Barnardos, etc. A good source is the
British Home Children mailing list , which you can subscribe to at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~britishhomechildren (they have info
there on the mailing list). If I can help you on the Canadian end of things,
let me know! Good Luck......

Does anyone know where I can start to search for details on a Frank Samuel
Ludditt born in Yardley Wood, Birmingham in September 1908. I spoke to this
man on the telephone in 1968 in London. He said he had been left at an
Orphanage as a newborne and had no idea who his family was. I have the story
of the rest of his family(my ancestors) and would like to find out more
about him - if he had any children etc.
