Surnames of Interest to me"
FREUNDS - DOWNS - HOYTS - BETHEL - GAUROUTTE - FORTY - POMEROY - EMMET
Well I usually "Lurk" awhile and see how a list is moderated . .
whether it is a down to the point facts only list or a more homey
chatty list . . . but it has been totally quiet since I joined the
Coos County, Curry County and Del Norte County list . . . so if some
of you have a problem with a chatty little data digger . . .I guess
yelling at me would at least get the list moving!
First off let me tell you that I live in ALASKA . . .so telling me to
"just go down to the courthouse" is an amusing statement. . . I was
there once . . .and was so amazed . . . all I think about is going
back . . .they have such GREAT records and resorces there! Some of
the people on the phone are SO helpful - Others don't know what they
have or don't have!
I have few brick walls in any of the three Counties to speak of . . .
only digging up info on people I know were born, lived and died there
and solving mysteries. . . putting together pieces of the family
history . . . and straightening out the "Facts" as presented by the
family . . . (Which put an interestingly INCORRECT spin on the life
and time of Coos Co.)
The number one Mystery I have is WHO WAS George W. Haskins 25 yrs old
W. Single Laborer living with Ann Bethel January 10 1920 in Cocquile
Oregon according to the 1920 Federal Census . . . Ann Bethel is my
grandmother . . . and according to her she was living with her sister
and her husband (Helen [Bethel] and Eben Pomeroy) in 1920
Do any of you have any Haskins in your woodpiles? - (Or paper piles
as in my case)
The brick walls I do have are not tracing ancestors but instead
tracing Descendants . . . more on that to come!
