In Minnesota, Wisconsin, and other areas with high concentrations of
Scandinavians, the name Axel is not uncommon. I doubt that in this case
it was changed to Albert. What do other list members think? I can forward
replies to Linda; or you can send her a copy.

In my Carlson name research, I've been looking for an "Albert" whom we
thought might be a brother to my grandfather, Carl Carlson. Finally
discovered Carl did indeed have a brother born in Sweden, but his name
was Axel. Carl came to America, but have no idea if Axel did. I have a
professional photo taken in Sanford, Florida in the 1890's of: "Carl,
Albert and friend." Three young men are in the photo. Have you ever
heard of "Axel" being changed to "Albert" in America? Thanks to
everyone.
