Subject: [OLDWORDS] Golfing terms ( BOGEY BIRDIE etc) also Col Bogey
Date: Sat, 1 Apr 2000 23:23:45 +0100

I was watching an old crossword quiz programme on TV yesterday and one of
the answers was BOGEY. This got me thinking about the terms that Golfers use
to indicate a particular score on a hole. Does anyone know where these came
from?

And while on the topic of Bogey, I seem to remember somewhere hearing an
explanation for Col. Bogey, but cannot recall it at the moment... Anyone!
Help!
