As you know, I tend to agree with you.

I think that the clerk originally wrote Sharp realised his mistake and then wrote a creative correction over the top and adding the 'son' at the end. The 'w' appears to be quite bold and written over the top of the 'h'. As Polly said the tilde denotes the existence of another 'n'.
The 'p' at the end is, as I stated before, in my humble opinion, the symbol/contraction that indicates the letters '-es' or '-is'.

Based on this I feel that the interpretation is - 'Swa[n]n[e]s son' i.e. 'Swanson'.

The final form that we have converged on seems fine to me except for line 5.

I am not necessarily taking issue with it but I would like to understand the
logic of the attribution as "Sharp son". I wonder if you could review the
reasons for this please.

We clearly have to deal with what was written but we should not forget that
this Edward could not have been Sharp because he was William's brother, it
was his sister that was married to Sharp. So any component of this written
name that is Sharp was a mistake of the clerk.

What is the function of the line above extending from a to p?

Much hangs on the second and fourth letters: h or w and r or n?

My opinion is that the word has been written "Swanep son", I have no idea
why the e and p might have been introduced and I don't understand the line
above.
