I think that you are right if you compare other "dots" in the lines above and below. If that IS the case I am going to suggest "Britton".

The decision is not made easy. The descender of the "s" immediately above merges with the ascender of the first "t". The clue however is in the line that joins the two "t"s.

I dont know what you think?

final comments. I've got one, regarding 'Burton' in Line 22 -- is
there an 'i'-dot over it (Garth had 'Brinton') or is that just a stray
mark? There's bleed-through from the back at that point but I don't
think it's that. This may be another name to try and confirm via
parish records.
