Garth,

My apologies of course, I failed to remember the three sons in line 7. (being a bit overkeen with the context in relation to page 1!) I t appears that he made the minor pecuniary bequests at the beginning of the will leading up to his sons. That is why I still am thinking that she had children from a previous marriage and he wished to leave them a sum of money.

All the best,

Martyn

Martyn

It is not clear if she had been married before. I assumed that she had been when I saw "children by Le_e" in the first line but if this word is really "heire" there is nothing to suggest that she had been.

He refers to his three sons in line 7 I assume that these were the children of wife Alice.

Thanks for thinking about this.

Garth

Garth,

Was the testator's wife previously married and did she have children by that marriage? If so I think that this refers to her children who technically weren't his heirs but hers and he wished to make provision for them. They do not seem to have had any children of their own as all the primary bequests are to his nephews and nieces.

All the best,

Martyn

Martyn and Polly

It does seem that the word in line 1 could be heire and the sense would be correct but was this the way the word would have been used?

In line 5 I thought this was Swanson at first but was thrown by the p.

I will send the first page to you individually and to anyone else who might be interested.

Judith and I had discussed posting the whole, she had reservations about copyright and since there were no questions on page 1 we agreed to post the second page alone.

Garth
