Thanks for that. As I said in my reply to Matt, I have looked at the original again and it shows as "farundelles" which would agree with your interpretation.

Hello Martyn,

Bailey's 1753 Dictionary gives "Farundel" as "the fourth part of an acre".

The Shorter OED confirms this, adding " a rood". no sign of farundettes.
