Additional information from "Boyd's Auburn, New York
Citizen & Business Directory for 1859-60" regarding
one of the businesses listed in my earlier reply. The
Agricultural Implements manufactured in the prison by
Ross, Dodge & Pomroy were reapers and mowers. The
address given for this business is State Prison,
Auburn which leads me to assume that the businesses
actually operated within prison walls with parts
coming in and reapers and mowers going out.
