Great maps. They are very helpful.

I have a general question. If you look at the 1875
Cayuga County Map showing Military Tract Townships,
you see several political boundries - one of which
must be the Military Tract Townships. Could someone
explain what these political boundries are?

For example, the hierarchy seems to be: Village of
Port Byron in Mentz in Brutus in Cayuga County. Is
Mentz a Township and Brutus a Military Tract Township?
If so, what do these two types of townships mean in
practical terms?
