Hello,
I'm a brand-new subscriber. I'm hoping that some kind soul on this list
will point me to some resources I can use to research an ancestor who is
said to have been an interpreter living among the Cherokee Indians. I have
this family back to 1840 in Gilmer County, Georgia, but I have not found
them in 1830 census records. If they were living among the Cherokee, would
the family have been enumerated in 1830 and if so, with which county? Any
suggestions for books to look for or records at the National Archives or
the GA Archives to pursue would be most appreciated.
Judy
