Midge and all,

When I was four I wanted a doll as big as me for some reason which I
still don't understand for Christmas. I can assure you that was way
before all the fancy kind now.
Midge, I don't know what my Mom collected and from who for my Christmas
present but that is where I got my doll as big as me. I named her
Honey and the whole family called her that. I still have Honey and I
still love her even if she has the appearance of being played with.
I have two other dolls, Shirley and Susie. Susie was my last doll
before I gave them up but then I am not sure I have. My son bought me
an original Cabbage Patch doll and I want one of those sleeping babies
that feel so real. He tried one Christmas his Dad told me but he
couldn't find one. I have ET and talking Elmo that was all the rage a
few years back. I saved one of the boy's GI Joe.

I think it is a crime and someone should be punished for not teaching
our history correctly. To me it is almost a sin not too and then to
teach it all wrong is worse even. What is that saying if you don't
remember history it will repeat itself? But I have been disgusted with
teachers since they started striking here in our state and telling us it
was for the kid's benefit. Which was hog wash!!!!!!!!

I lived by a lake and when I was young we had plenty or vacant land. We
played hide & seek with our front door as home. A game where we threw a
ball over the house to someone on the other side and said something
which I have forgotten, something like Ollie ollie over comes to mind.
Red Rover when we had enough kids. Played lots of house, being mothers
and made mud hamburgers, muddy water for coffee, and a leave was the bun
under Dad's box elder tree. Living at the lake we fished, swam and in
the winter ice skated all for nothing.

I loved to read and my Mom didn't and it was like wasted time but she
never had time to play as a kid. She always told me she hoped the house
never caught on fire while I was reading because I would never hear
anyone tell me. I can remember reading with my head on the ottoman and
my feet up on the chair. There wasn't a library near us and I didn't
have a library card until I took my young sons to the library. I knew I
could count on my sister-in-law to buy me books for "Christmas". My
husband will tell me now if I read that he knows I am okay as I can't
read when I am upset but then if I get a good book started I can't lay
it down until I am done. If I cry while reading he classifies it a good
book and if I laugh out loud while reading it is classified as a good
book. I always read the new book section in the newspaper and I always
made sure my grandsons got books.
