Yes, I remember Walnettos and SenSen. By the way, the Vermont Country Store
catalog has both. No, I don't work for them, just saw it in there and was
tempted for old times sake, especially the Walnettos. I still see SenSen in
local drugstores sometimes. I remember pointing it out to my son one time.
He was NOT impressed. The chum gum sounds very familiar....not sure why,
since I cannot place it. We also had jaw breakers, red and black. They
must have driven our folks crazy. When my kids were young I about croaked
if they wanted to put one of those giant gum balls in their mouth. I was
always sure they would choke on it.
In Minnesota, the 10 cent desirable candy bar was called Nut Goody. Of
course, a dime was generally out of my price range, so only got one as a
treat(and gift treat) rarely.
In the summer time almost every night my folks would drive us uptown for
a nickel ice cream cone. We always called the local town uptown, although
we went DOWN a hill....don't know why.
