Hallo
Hapton village is '5 south-east from Wymondham and 9 south-west from
Norwich, in the Southern division of the county' according to 1888 Kelly's.
There is mention of a Hapton House, and of 'the Baroness Berners of the
manor' also the chief land-owner being Sir Charles Harvey bart. J.P. of
Rainthorpe Hall. No mention of Hapton Hall. Checked Hopton, that is in
Suffolk, and the only mention of a hall is Pakenham Hall, the residence of
Sir Thomas Thornbill bart. D.L. J.P. lord of the manor.
One never knows from where a clue might appear.
Sincerely
Bill
