January 28th ~ Thomas KNIGHT's wife, daughter of Josiah STOKES, deceased.

February 6th ~ Thomas RAWLING's wife, Anne, daughter of Job BROWN, deceased
this p.m.

February 14th ~ Job BUTCHER, deceased.

March 4th ~ Daniel PACKER's blacksmith shop burned down.

March 10th ~ Called in Dr. FITHIAN.

March 11th ~ Charles KNIGHT and Achsah CLARK married at our meeting today.

March 12th ~ Doctor Dayton LUMMIS consulted.

March 19th ~ Deptford School not visited today by one trustee!

March 22nd ~ Casper BUDD deceased in woods.

March 27th ~ Benjamin SWETT deceased.

April 3rd ~ Doctor FITHIAN's father deceased at Cedarville.

April 29th ~ Joshua LORD's stone house at Mantua Creek burnt down today.

May 3rd ~ Phebe BROWN, widow of David BROWN, buried.

May 23rd ~ Jeremiah PAUL buried in Philadelphia.

June 7th ~ Elizabeth, wife of Jacob HAINES [HAYNES], deceased today.

June 14th ~ Samuel BLACKWOOD, son of John and Anne BLACKWOOD interred 11th
inst.

July 6th ~ Clement REEVE [REEVES] of ye ferry upper side Market Street,
Philadelphia, deceased of yellow fever yesterday.

July 16th ~ Brother Joseph HINCHMAN, his son Joseph and grandson Samuel
called. Brother Joseph informed me he didn't know his own age exactly, but
that he had been informed he was born on ye same day on which John GLOVER,
now deceased, was married. (2nd month 18th day 1751)

July 27th ~ Resigned my office of Treasurer of 1st day School Society and
Charles OGDEN was appointed in my place.

July 29th ~ George TATUM's wife deceased ye morning.

August 1st ~ My beloved cousin, James COOPER deceased this evening aged 65
years 5 months 24 days. My age 72 years 10 months 19 days. Difference 7
years 5 months 25 days.

September 14th ~ Got lock to front door repaired at Samuel STEVENS, Cutler,
Arch Street, Philadelphia.

September 15th ~ Attended Funeral of William LAWRENCE, late Jailer in
Woodbury who deceased last night a martyr to strong drink.

September 16th ~ Cousin Charles STRATTON, Hannah his wife, (late MICKLE,
daughter of cousin James MICKLE, deceased) and their two children, Rhoda and
James arrived here from Ohio, left us November 2nd. Came in one horse wagon.

September 18th ~ Thomas REEVES at Clonmell deceased ye morning.

October 6th ~ Phebe CLARK, widow of Josiah CLARK, deceased.

October 9th ~ Much of ye day spent with ye crowd at ye courthouse in hearing
witnesses and arguments in ye case of black Jane BOWYER and her four children
claimed as runaway slaves by William JONES of Delaware State who was lately
fined in said state $500.00 for kidnapping.

The Blacks were this evening liberated but ye three witnesses against them
imprisoned till further order. One of ye party against said Blacks viz:
George DeSHIELD (after ye court adjourned to dine) made escape on John Moore
WHITE's horse, lent him, to Gloucester and thence crossed ye river to
Philadelphia though pursued by three constables. [For a more particular
statement of this business see Columbian Herald newspaper, No. 5, page 2,
col. 2.]

October 10th ~ The above named slave claimer, William JONES, imprisoned today
on charge of Subornation of Perjury.

October 12th ~ A great northern sky light tonight.

October 13th ~ This day ten years ago it pleased ye Lord to take from me my
dear partner of my joys and sympathizer in my sorrows.

October 23rd ~ Benjamin REEVES, son of Joseph REEVES, Sr. interred at Biddle
REEVES Burial Ground.

October 27th ~ Hannah TATUM, wife of John TATUM, Jr. deceased last evening,
aged 46 years lacking 16 days. Buried the 29th.

October 28th ~ Heard Charlotte WISTAR, widow of John WISTAR, deceased 26th
inst.

November 6th ~ At a meeting in ye Court House of inhabitants of Woodbury to
consider of means of preventing ye Court House and other ye public Buildings
from being removed to Camden.

November 11th ~ Charles WARD, son of George and Edith WARD, and Eliza CLARK,
daughter of Thomas and Achsa CLARK, married at meeting today.

November 14th ~ Jacob WOOD, formerly teacher in Deptford Free School House,
but latterly near Salem, deceased ye 10th inst. in 62nd year of age.

November 17th ~ Doctor HARTSHORNE of Philadelphia attended me, also Dr.
Joseph FITHIAN.

December 18th ~ James LORD, son of Constantine and Sarah LORD, deceased this
p.m. in his 38th year.
