January 6th ~ Benjamin WHITECAR, joiner, near neighbor in Woodbury, deceased
last night.
January 8th ~ Monthly Meeting. The religious meetings at Chestnut Ridge are
concluded to be dropped they have been continued several years past on trial.
January 10th ~ Joshua L. [Ladd] HOWELL, deceased, 55 years old. [NOTE: born:
19 Sep 1762 ~ married 16 Feb 1786 to Anna BLACKWOOD, daughter of Samuel
BLACKWOOD and Abigail CLEMENT]
January 20th ~ Mary Ann, wife of Samuel OGDEN, deceased.
January 22nd ~ Doctor Casper WISTAR, deceased.
January 24th ~ Isaac TRUMP, on way from Philadelphia to Bridgeton called;
says his mother is in 86th year.
February 18th ~ Ann, wife of John SHIVERS, deceased last night.
February 19th ~ Michael C. [Chew] FISHER [b: 30 SEP 1772 ~ d: 15 AUG 1862]
and Mary REEVES, daughter of Joseph at Redbank, married at our meeting today,
his second wife.
February 28th ~ Franklin DAVENPORT informed me today that he was born in 9th
month 1755. [d: 27 JUL 1832; lawyer, military officer; United States Senator
1798~99 and United States Representative, 1799.]
March 4th ~ Copied from James SAUNDERS (SANDERS) piece book, a letter from my
beloved Uncle and guardian, David COOPER, deceased, to his grandchildren,
Sibbee, Polly and Sally.
March 4th ~ Solomon Lippincott SAUNDERS, deceased 2nd inst.
March 9th ~ Agreed to lease to Thomas IVINS, lot No. 15 at Laddstown for 15
years at $5 annually and he to build a substantial whart and deliver it at
end of 15 years for Public landing.
March 25th ~ Charles OGDEN's wife, Margaretta, deceased.
March 27th ~ Elizabeth HOPPER, daughter of William and Mary HOPPER, deceased,
aged 14 years.
March 29th ~ Invitation to funeral of Prudence KAIGHN, widow of Joseph
KAIGHN, said to be in her 89th year. [Note: nee Prudence BUTCHER]
April 8th ~ Annual Meeting Bible Society at Academy.
April 8th ~ Rebecca JONES, a maiden of Philadelphia, interred yesterday in
Philadelphia, about 89 years old.
April 29th ~ Received invitation to funeral of Dr. Samuel HOPKINS of
Philadelphia, late of Woodbury, son of James HOPKINS.
May 6th ~ John PAUL deceased ye morning.
May 12th ~ Went to Philadelphia bought spectacles at McALLISTER's down near
ye drawbridge.
June 6th ~ Gave Matilda ALBERTI [ALBERTY] large family Bible late belonging
to her Aunt Blanch PRICE, deceased.
June 17th ~ George ALBERTI, Jr. after a runaway black slave. I did not see
either of them.
July 12th ~ 103 degrees in shade. Warmest day since Battle of Monmouth in
the Revolutionary War and was warmer than any for 30 years before.
July 15th ~ Cousin Ann MICKLE (3rd wife of Joseph at Newton) late BLACKWOOD,
deceased this a.m.
July 15th ~ Amy WARD, widow of Nathan WARD, deceased yesterday.
July 20th ~ Began making index of in ye latter part of Book of records of
Births and Deaths of Members of Woodbury Monthly Meeting.
August 4th ~ Levi LIPPINCOTT, deceased, Evesham funeral.
August 13th ~ Samuel W. HARRISON, deceased at Gloucester yesterday in his
56th year.
August 30th ~ Levi HOPPER says he was aged 74, 2 months on 17th last.
September 3rd ~ Funeral of Joseph EASTLACK.
September 12th ~ My birthday begins my 73rd year.
September 17th ~ Thomas WOOD and Anna Maria WOOD, daughter of Marmaduke WOOD
married today.
September 17th ~ Levi HOPPER, deceased this morning.
September 30th ~ John FISHER of Petersburg in Virginia, introduced to me by
Robert ROE, he being brother of Sarah FISHER, ye first girl my wife and I had
in our family. He informed me he removed from here in 1791 and his sister
Sarah in 1792.
October 2nd ~ Heard George C. WARD's wife, Deborah deceased at ye Miamis
lately. [Ohio]
October 2nd ~ At David ALLINSON's auction of Books at Jesse SMITH's,
Innkeeper.
October 10th ~ Jacob SEED's wife deceased ye morning.
October 12th ~ Samuel TONKIN's [TONKINS] house burned today.
October 12th ~ Heard Thomas PRICE deceased 3rd inst.
October 14th ~ Cousin Joseph WHITALL, Supt. Of Westown School, removed there
10-15-1811, returned back with family to Plantation today.
October 18th ~ Martha HINCHMAN, wife of Joseph, deceased.
October 23rd ~ Had apple trees white washed.
November 7th ~ Joseph COOPER of Cooper's Point, Newton, deceased 27th ult.
November 11th ~ Mary MILLER, wife of John MILLER, and daughter of Anthony
ALLEN, deceased.
