The Lennon family had publick house at the
crossroads in the 1700s. They are numerous in So. Armagh. The Parish I
would start with is Upper Creggan for RC church records for the baptism
of your James LENNON. The parish is bordered on the south by County
Louth and on the west by County Monaghan, which lie on the Eire side of
the border. RC Records for the Parish go back to the late 1700s.

The area around Crossmaglen...the market town..is like an armed camp
with an oppressive British military presence. Strife has been present
there for hundreds of years. Therefore, your ancestors being cast out
by both families simply reflects strong feelings developed over many
years.

Patrick, an e-mail acquaintance, grew up in Crossmaglen, and should
be able to help you. Also, he has Lennon Ancestors. Another So. Armagh
Parish near the border is Forkhill Parish. James was a popular given
name among Lennon families and is found in several other Armagh Parishes
in 1864, besides Creggan and Forkhill.

The Anglican Church in Creggan has a website and controls the
ancient Creggan cemetery where catholics and protestants are buried.
St. Patrick's RC Church.in Crossmaglen has upper Creggan records.

searching for... 1844 Ulster marriage of Michael Dailey to Sarah
Elizabeth O'Hare and births/baptismal records of Mary Dailey ca. 31 Dec
1845 and John Dailey born 8 Sep 1847/48. Would like to find links to my
relatives from Dec 1823 marriage of Michael Hearty to Sarah Kelly in
Upper Creggan parish. The witnesses or sponsors of that marriage were
Patrick Begley and Peter Byrns.
