Date: Mon, 9 Jun 2003 18:32:14 -0700
Clipping of the Day From The Ohio Repository, 09 June 1852, page 2:
The North Western Territory of 1800, comprised within its limits the present
States of Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Michigan and Wisconsin and contained at
that time 50,240 inhabitants while the aggregate population of these State,
in 1850, was 4,323,139. All history does not contain an instance of as large
and as rapid an increase in wealth in population, during the short period of
50 years, as this Territory "Northwest of the Ohio river" furnishes.
