Dear listers,

Well guess what! We've got some important days coming up this
month. More on that in a moment...

First of all I want to thank all of you who responded to my call
for queries and data at the first of the year. I'm glad to tell you
it was a great success.

Not all of my lists suddenly got busy but many certainly did. Some
lists had previously had a raft of messages and the members were
all talked out at that time. On other lists members typically post
whenever they've got something to say and on still others I'm sure
people are sitting on the edges of their seats getting ready to
contribute something. But for the most part you surely responded
and I thank you for making the campaign a success.

Now we've got Valentine's Day coming up. No, it's not really a
holiday but most of us consider it to be a very special day. Do you
not think our ancestors were romantic? I think they were by the
very fact that we are here today. So in this romantic spirit those
who are so inclined are invited to post something in honor of our
romantic ancestors.

How about lists of marriage intentions? Or maybe you have some
knowledge on courting customs in colonial times or medieval times
that you'd like to share. Perhaps you have an interesting anecdote
or poem about your grandparents' courtship. Whatever you have feel
free to share it with your cousins in this list. Of course it must
be suitable for viewing by your children and mine.

Another day to remember is Presidents' Day. I'm glad that they
combined the February Presidential holidays into one day.
Presidents Washington and Lincoln certainly were among the greatest
but we've had some other fine Presidents too including those of our
own time. They all should be recognized for their leadership.

By the way, here's an interesting fact. Of the 43 American
Presidents, I've lived during the administrations of 11 of them or
about one fourth. Pretty amazing when you stop and think about it.

Okay back to reality. I'm sure many of you have seen articles and
web sites showing the relationships between Presidents and well
known ancestors. If you know of a connection between a president
and a progenitor of one of our family lines please post it here.
And let's include Vice Presidents and First Ladies too!

Let's not leave anybody out. Those of you from countries other than
the U.S. are equally invited to share connections between world
leaders of your country and important ancestors of these lines.

Folks, as always post your query often. If you didn't find your
ancestor during the New Years rally then it's time to post again.
That new member who just joined the list might have the ancestor
you're looking for.

Happy Valentines' Day and the best to you on Presidents' Day.

David

Important P.S. -- As always do not repost this letter and add your
material to it. Instead, open a new email, with your own Subject
and then submit your data.

Looking forward to your post.

D.
