I am researching the ancestry of Joseph BUTLER (1822-1891) and his wife Nancy
DAVIDSON (1829-1901). Nancy was "free black" in 1860 Mecklenburg County
Census. She was supposedly born in Salisbury, Rowan County, NC. Her mother
was Lydia HENDERSON alias Lydia CLARK.

Nancy is related (probably paternally) to the "black" DAVIDSON families that
lived in Charlotte in the early years after the Civil War. She had one known
sister or sister-in-law named Becky DAVIDSON who died in the early 1900's and
also one known brother Alex HENDERSON who was born about 1833.

I have one e-mailable photograph of Nancy DAVIDSON and one e-mailable
photograph of her husband Joseph BUTLER.
