David,

The only William Allisons indexed in 1850 North Carolina who have an "S" middle initial are these:

William S. Allison, born 1786, indexed in Cabarras County
William S. Allison, born 1831, indexed in Cabarras County

There is a William Allison with no middle initial, born 1838, indexed in Orange County,

a William S. Allison, born 1840, indexed in 1850 Fairfield District, South Carolina,

and no W. S. Allisons.

Do any of these look like they might be yours?

Linda in Georgia

Subject: [NC-CENSUS-LOOKUP] William S. ALLISON in Unknown County

I am seeking a record of William S. ALLISON, trying to place him in a
particular county of NC. If anyone has an 1850 index which contains family
members and not just heads of households, I would appreciate a cursory check
to see if an Allison family shows up with a son named William S. (or W.S.)
Allison, born circa 1836 in NC, so he would have been approximately 14 years
of age in 1850.

Any leads will be appreciated.

Thanks,

David
