Subject: TASMANIAN BUILT SHIPS

We are planning a trip to Tasmania in November this year and hope to visit the area where our ancestor built two ships c 1855 on the Huon River at Franklin. The vessels are the " PRYDE " Official Number 32,090, owner, builder and captain was Capt. Simon SAUNDERS. The second vessel was the " HUON " Official number 41,468. Again the owner, builder and captain was Capt. Simon SAUNDERS. Could SKS advise if it there is any trace of the shipbuilding industry remaining in this area, Nautical Museums, Historical Societies etc. Many thanks, Peter and Margaret in Auckland NZ.
