Everyone, there have been several significant developments with Barbara in the last couple of days. She has developed a bowel obstruction, likely as a result of her lupus. She has chosen not to have it treated. As a result, things have changed dramatically. We moved her this evening to an impatient hospice center that is designed to care for someone in the last week to 10 days of their life. She will likely die fairly quickly. They are working to get her pain managed as quickly as they can. She is becoming increasingly uncomfortable as the pain in her abdomen is becoming greater.

The hospice facilty is called Odyssey House, and it is a small inpatient hospice located in north Oklahoma City. It is located at 13920 Quailbrook Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73134. I only saw two other patients in the facility, and it will only hold about 12 when it is full. When I left this evening she was sleeping peacefully. I'll keep everyone posted.
