Hello Lists:
It has brought to my attention, I did not include any info on this family
with the last post. I will try this one more time. <grin>
Thanks,
Jim
Isleton, Ca. USA
Theophilus Peter Tremble-Trombley--Tremblay, was born in Lachine Quebec,
Canada. 1831. His parents were of French decent.
His father is said to have been Roger Tremble of Lachine, Quebec, Canada. I
have found one Roger Tremblay, in Lachine. He was to have been a Pilot on
the river, there. (a ship,s captian or one that pilots the ships down the
river)
His wife's name was Catherine Maranda. Roger and Catherine were married in
1821. Lachine or Montreal. A few of their children have been located but no
PETER or PIERRE. (I do not know of this would be my Roger Tremblay)This
info comes from Sylvie Tremblay, a researcher for The Association des
Tremblay d'Amérique . You may know or have heard of her. At this point, I
have not heard anything back from her.
Peter migrated to Buffalo in or about 1845, where he started his underwater
diving career.
Peter married Mary Jane Green abt. 1855-1858. Mary born 1842, Oswego, NY.
His teacher was John B. Green of Buffalo. (strange--could this be Mary's
father ??)
Peter dove in and around Buffalo and the Great Lakes (Canada and
Michigan) until 1878, when he retired and moved to Bay City, Michigan.
1878-1883
All of Peter and Mary's children (but one, Bessie, b. 1888) were all born in
NY. 2 have been confirmed. One in Buffalo, 1859 (my G-Uncle) and his brother
(my Grandfather), Tonawanda, NY. 1866.
All of the children, I assume, moved to Bay City with their parents.
1878-1883.
Peter and Mary are buried in Green Ridge Cemetery, Bay City, Michigan.
Peter, 1831-1893 and Mary, 1842-1891. (I have been to their graves) NO
RECORDS CAN BE FOUND FOR THESE TWO NAMES IN THIS CEMETERY !!!! There was an
entry in the records for the 2 lots they are buried in, that states--"name
changed from Pete LeTourneau to Peter Tremble" ???????????? This does not
appear to be a sale record for the lots.
The only records I have are as follows---
6 land documents for the Bay City area. Bought and sold by Peter and Mary
Tremble.......
Marrage and divorce records for their youngest child. Bessie Tremble. St.
Clair Co. Indiana. Names shown of these records are, Bessie E.
TROMBLEY--Father-Theophlius P. TROMBLEY--Mother-Mary Jane Green. These
names appear on 2 marriage records for Bessie. 1908 and 1911........The
TROMBLEY name also shows up on the Divorce records for her 1908 marriage.
A biography of my G-Uncle, "Historical Sketches of Bay County, Michigan".
1892. This lists Peter's place of birth, (Lachine, Quebec, Canada) his
diving career, (starting at age 14) Mary's place of birth (Oswego, NY.) and
death date, Mary's father. No name. Only as being born in Canada and died in
Cleveland, Ohio. The life story of Theophlius Jeremiah Tremble (my G-Uncle)
from 1859 to 1892. his apprenticeship as a wood turner, his travels in NY.
and his bussness in Bay City, Michigan. A very well known wood turner in Bay
City.
In 1905, Louis Alexander Tremble (my Grandfather) and his brother moved to
Arenac Co. Michigan and bought a farm on the Rifle River. ALL Trembles in
Arenac Co. at this time, are decendants of My Louis Alexander Tremble and
Nancy Rose Eber (HEBERT)
Unfortunately, I have very little documentation of my family as there is no
paper trail and Peter and his family moved around so much.
I have several family stories that do not make a lot of sense and I have
found a few to be very false. I still persue them in hopes they may have
some truth to them.
If you have any info on this ELUSIVE family, I would be most appreciative,
