I am the eldest of eight siblings and I would not trade it for anything.
We have a great love and understanding of each other that has never changed.
When I married it was just a natural to care for my children as they arrived-I had always taken care of babies and children all my life.
I think it is wonderful for youngsters to have to take part in the family and have responsibilities--unlike many of todays children.
We had chores and we learned to do all that was needed to keep house, cook, shop etc. at a very early age.
I can remember at age 11 bringing the baby in the baby carriage to the local grocery and getting what my Mom had on the list--no problems.
Daddy paid the bill every week--so it was go get the things as needed for meals.
We made our beds every morning and helped do dishes ,iron, cook and watch the little ones--we thought nothing of changing a diaper or bathing and feeding a baby--rocking the baby to sleep etc.
I always watch when the Duggars are on and think they are a great family and the children are very bright and can do much others the same age have no clue about!
As long as they can afford the big family, I think it is great. They sure seem to have the means to support the whole bunch if good style and lots of love, which is a biggie in my book!
