My family doesn't dare complain to me about boredom. I am always ready with
a suggestion to solve that problem. One doesn't have to worry about snakes,
chiggers, ticks, no seeumms when it is cold outside. Perfect time for
cleaning out the fence row or the blackberry patches. Stacking fire wood
keeps one warm also. The barns always need a good cleaning. Suddenly
boredom is gone.

We have been in the deep freeze here on the ranch for a week now. The silly
weather folks keep telling us it will warm up when the snow melts. Wellll,
duhhh. We don't have snow anymore, just white ice about five or six inches
thick. We had to cancel the chimney sweep, to much ice for him to be on the
roof. He expects to come this Tuesday and check the fireplaces, etc.

The cold has driven the coyotes closer into the house and barn. My German
Shepherd and Blue Heeler do a good job of keeping them away from the animals
here on the ranch. Millie the German Shepherd Dog is outside barking now. I
heard the coyotes barking when I was in the breakfast room.

Last night is was 5 degrees. Sure makes for good sleeping.
