I have been watching the news and some areas really "lucked out" while old Ernesto was flooding other areas severely. Those leftover hurricanes are really a "hit and miss" proposition. Glad you weren't affected too badly by the storm and my heart goes out to those who were. I think Mother Nature is playing tricks on all of us again! The far western states are dryer than a bone and the far eastern states are getting mostly flooded. There just "ain't no justice!" Mary P.

Mary:
If I could I would...it's raining here in NJ this morning. A slow gentle rain. We sure
missed the bullet on Ernesto.
Glad he went out like a lamb here.
Your fire is so sad. It looks bad on TV and I'm sure it's worse up close like you are.

If you possibly could, would you Easterners please send some of that rain out this way? None of that really heavy downpour, but just a gentle soaking rain to help put out our fires? No rain is forecast here through all of next week.

The Complex fire has grown to 72,000 acres. The wind the last few days has certainly not helped. There are now about 1300 fire fighters and support personnel. One lady who lives very near the fire camp said that under other circumstances, the noise of 6 helicopters making passes directly overhead constantly would really irritate her. A few times, the volunteers at the Waitsburg School cafeteria have almost run completely out of food supplies. The word was sent out that they were short...supplies and money poured in and saved the day!
It was really smoky in town today. I don't think our air quality is going to get much better very soon. I haven't seen the mountains for about a week now. Mary P.
