There used to be a convent just down the hill from me as the crow flies, it
occupied prime property right on the banks of Puget Sound, with beautiful
grounds and stunning views. It is now owned by the city of Federal Way and
is called the Dumas Bay Centre. When the nuns were still in residence we
heard bells every noon. I'm sure they rang them at other times, but the noon
bells are what I remember. I don't hear them anymore, since the city took
over the property.
I remember plenty of school bells, but none at the University.
I know there are bells rung at the local hospital, St. Francis, I am not
sure why. Nurses and Aides come down the halls and close all the doors. A
WAG is that it is time for prayers or that someone has died, I have no idea.
