Darlene, talking about your bird plates reminded me of my son's plates.
John had given each of the boys a plate showing an old sailing vessel, from
the Danbury Mint, showing the vessel in NYC harbor. Two buildings were in
the background and my son said, to him, those buildings detracted from the
ship. Each of the boys have their plates displayed.
But, after 9/11, my son realized the buildings were the NY towers that the
airplanes had crashed into. Now, he's glad they were included in the
background.
What is the name of your pattern of dishes? We could look it up on google.
