Well, Monday night, shortly after supper my granddaughter decided that she
would wash the work clothes of her cousin, who is working on a rush job that my
son's company is doing. He is spending nights at our house because they leave
so early in the morning.

It was very sweet of her, however, she failed to check the pockets of the
work pants.
Consequently, these giant, three inch long screws found their way to the pump
where they screamed and clawed, the way screws will, for release. Everyone in
the house ran to the laundry room causing quite a traffic jam. We were in
time to witness the shut down of the machine. Self preservation. Good thing.

Now, this is a large capacity front load machine that, having stopping in its
tracks, as I mentioned, trapped the wash water, allowing the work clothes to
lingered contentedly in the hot, soapy water. What to do?

Your imagination will conjure the scene that followed....

Next morning, the cousin wore borrowed work clothes which served him well. I
placed a call to the repair service. The man promised to have a service man
out if not Wednesday, then surly Thursday.

So, I waited until he arrived at 10:30a.m.. He was pleasant and professional.
He quickly removed the front cover, and applying a mysterious form of
Braille, opened the pump
and what to my unbelieving eyes were extracted but the two giant screws I
mentioned before.

He handed them to me, closed the pump, replaced the cover, filled the machine
and while we enjoyed a hot cup of coffee and lively conversation, the machine
perfectly completed the cycle. I wrote a check for $48.73 and, as we do in
Charleston, I saw him to the door, walked outside with him and as he drove down
the drive, waved a final good-bye. He waved back.

Since then I have been attending to my laundry, the mountain of bath towels
that accumulated through the use of nine people since Monday night, and have
begun to winterize my closet.

AOL has been dropping me off at a phenomenal rate. I checked the modem.
Thought I'd write this post and give them a chance to resolve whatever is amiss.
Additionally, I have been unable to send posts From An_Internet_Family.
When attempting to do so it bounces back. I do, however, receive posts from
AIF through AOL to MLL. Yahoo says I am Unsubscribed from AIF. I don't think I
really am.
Posts sent to AIF from AOL bounces as well.

Gremlins, I guess.

What are you doing? Pud O' Leary
