Aha! That I know! Minding your P's & Q's came from the land of English
pubs - where people ordered Pints & Quarts of ale. If a customer became
unruly, the barkeep would warn him to "mind his Ps & Qs" - or he would be
cut off. So behaving yourself became minding your Ps & Qs.
