Some conferming evidence on him... In 1780, he was in the 5th Battalion
of Cumberland Co. This was east central Cumberland Co. at that time. The
5th Battalion was all mustered from there. His Captain was in charge of or
from Toboyne Twp. Tyrone Twp is near by. Buffalo valley was listed as a
location of James. So far I can't find a Buffalo Valley in modern Perry
County. But there are Buffalo this and that references. An old map shows
Buffalo Valley in what is now north-eastern Perry County.
I bought the book "Mother Cumberland" and $100 of other books at the
historical society that day. There are also McCracken's listed in a Church
roster in the area of Perry county as well. 6 hours was not enough time to
go through all the records of the 1700s.
