Too many James McCrackens around the same time.... My James...born 1753
and ended up in PA. Then the James in N.C. about the same time. And I
found a second James that ended up in Huntingdon county, PA. And there are
others....
Unfortunately, I think most of our family connections go back into
Ireland.

The other son of WILLIAM was CYRUS. Most of them wound up in Kentucky. A
descendant of one son was the man they named McCRACKEN COUNTY after. He was
killed in the War of 1812 at the Battle of Raisen River in Michigan.
I don't think our McCRACKENS are connected. There were a lot of them in
early Pennsylvania. I have found JAMES McCRACKEN in Hunterdon County,N.J. in
1730. I believe he was the father or possibly a brother of WILLIAM. They
both wound up in Hampshire County,Va. JAMES was killed by Indians in ca.
